Picture 2Starlings is an independent game developed by Russ Morris that I’ve been keeping an eye on for a while now. Its an original concept, something often rare in the gaming world these days (sorry to sound quite so cynical!) which involves the player building a flock of starlings from just a single bird in flight.

A fascinating idea for a game that blends puzzle, art and flight sim in one.

Check out the vimeo video below and then go and try the latest build on the site here. You can also read Russ’s development blog here.

Picture 2This amazing interactive ident by London studio HelloEnjoy really shows off the power of Unity on the web. Running perfectly, Carlos Ulloa’s drive around-a-logo handles perfectly too and shows what can be done with a simple beautfiul design and a cut down scene. The model looks fantastic, and even leaves skidmarks on handbreak turns!

Massive props to them for this awesome bit of Unity work, surpasses their previous letter gravity flash work with ease, not to sound biased or anything ;)

unity26-normalUnity Technologies have just released Unity 2.6.1 incremental release. This version fixes a few bugs that were lurking in 2.6 and also adds in web player support for Safari 64bit in Mac OS X Leopard (10.6) – as UT have rewritten the player specifically for that browser for even slicker performance.

Full release notes and bugfix list is here -
